Technical Director

Peninsula Players Theatre, Fish Creek, WI

1998 - 2016

 

Responcible for engineering and supervising the constriction of scenery for a five show season.  Worked with union desingers, directors and actors.  Orchestrated the strike and load-in of productions during a 72 hour work period.  Managed the work schedule and production duties for the eight production interns hired every summer.

Responsible for teaching courses in Stagecraft, Drafting, Portfolio and Presentation, Mechanical Design, and Properties Construction.  I create and maintain the production calendar for the Departmental Season.  Create working drawings for the scene shop and maintiain production budgets.

2000 - 2012

 

Taught classes in Stagecraft, Lighting Production, Hand Drafting, Welding, Stage Management and Introduction to Theatrical Design.  I also served as Scenic Designer and Technical Director for a three show departmental season.

Responsible for superivising students working the scene and properties shop, mentoring student Techncail Directors in leadership and communication skills, assisted in construction of complicated scenic elements.  Also served as the Assistant Technical Director for Opera Theatre of St. Louis.

My studies consisted of classes in hand & computer drafting (AutoCAD), Structrual Design, Property Construction, Technical Theatre History as well as many History and Literature course.  Part of my education also included working as a carpenter in the scene shop for the Kansas City Repertory Theatre.

My studies included various courses in lighting and scenery design and independent studies in sound.  Since the degree was housed in the Department of Communicating Arts I also had course in Group, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal and Nonverbal communication.

 
Skills

 

Rough and finished carpentry, furniture construction, MIG welding,  Stick welding, Brazing and other metalworking skills.  Pneumatic system design, mechanical design and an understanding of structrual design. Carving, sculpting, mould making and casting skills.  Basic sewing and upholstry skills.  Basic electrical wiring skills. Hand drafting, AutoCAD and Vectorworks drafting skills. 3D printing skills using MakerBot Replicator printer, Experience in programming Creative Conners "Spike Mark" automation software.
